Frequently Asked Questions

1) How much should a DJ cost?

Music plays a key role in the success of any event. In fact a survey completed by Modern Bride Magazine shows that most people are willing to only spend 5% of their budget on entertainment, yet the majority of guest remember the entertainment most about the event. The amount that you should spend varies, but considering that most guests will remember the music more than any other part of the event it is highly recommended that you allocate an appropriate percentage of your budget to this. Remember you usually get what you pay for.

2) Is obtaining a demo CD a good idea?

Demo CDs are usually not made to cater to private events since these types of events have varying music that should appeal to various age groups. It is more important that your DJ has a wide song selection.

3) How long is setup and take-down of the speaker system?

The amount of time required can vary based on complexity of the setup and layout of the facility. It is best to allocate 1 hour for setup and sound tests and about 30 to 45 minutes for take down.

4) Why does 4 Elements provide consultations while other companies do not?

The consultation allows us to ensure that the music played is catered to the needs of the hosts  and the guests. Although our DJs will play songs of their own selection, the consultation will ensure that everyone gets music that they enjoy.

5) Why do other DJ companies charge a premium (i.e. $3600) for certain DJs that work for them and why does 4 Elements Entertainment not have a premium DJ?

Most companies use this tactic as a way to charge more for their services. They usually do not send a different DJ because you took the premium package. Very few DJs work as DJs full time, therefore the company has to work around the availability of their people, and therefore cannot ensure that only one premium DJ is reserved.

4 Elements Entertainment do not have specific DJs classified as "premium DJs" because all of our DJs are able to perform to the same high standards that we demand. All of our DJs (new and veteran) are required to attend weekly practice sessions to ensure that their performance is always the best. We do not charge a premium fee, because we believe that this is what customers should expect from their DJ.

6) How are your prices determined?

Our fees are based on the package selected, the number of hours of play, & any additional services required. We also mystery shop our competitors to ensure that we offer the best prices.

7) Why don't you offer a lower price for different days of the week (i.e. Sunday weddings)?

Our prices are already below our competitors that even when they apply their 10-20 % "off peak days" discount we are still cheap and provide more services.

8) I have quotes from other DJs that are cheaper, why are they able to quote lower than you?

We encourage customers to shop around, however we caution you. You wedding is one of the most memorable events in your lifetime, and as such, would you feel comfortable relying on a DJ strictly because of their price? Some DJs can charge lower because they either are a) using old and out dated equipment, b) using cheap equipment not designed for what they are being used for, c) using equipment of poor quality, d) not providing all the services we offer as part of our fee, e) they are not experienced enough to know what to charge, and/or  f) their level of performance is not very high therefore they charge less. It can be for any one or combination of these reasons as to why they are charging less.

9) Why do you use specific types and brands of equipment?

We enlist professional sound technicians to help us select equipment that will provide the best sound quality. We also upgrade our equipment on a regular basis to ensure that our equipment is always in working order.

10) Why are you not at wedding shows?

A  booth at a wedding show typically costs about $4000 per day for each of the 3 days, and there are about 10 wedding shows per year. While there is potential to gain business from the weeding shows, we prefer to not incur these advertising expenses so that we can  keep our prices as low as possible for our customers.
